    Experiences in teaching Hydrogen Technologies in the framework of the International Campus of Excellence Andalucia TECH

    The increasing importance of hydrogen technologies is demanding prepared professionals in the numerous topics related to this energy vector. Apart from some basic and advanced courses given by actual experts in these topics, universities must play an important role in the general formation of future professionals. In this way, the International Campus of Excellence (ICE) Andalucía TECH has created several degrees taught jointly by its participating universities of Seville (US) and Málaga (UMA). Among those degrees, Energy Engineering is the best suited to the field of this conference because this degree provide future engineers with specialized training in energy generation, transformation and management. In relation to hydrogen technologies this degree includes a cross sectional optional unit named Hydrogen Based Systems (4.5 ECTS/112.5 h), which is placed in the last term of the fourth year and sharing space with work placement and mobility courses. This paper will present some author’s experiences as teachers of that unit during its short history of only three years. In spite of being a joint degree, which is coordinated between both universities (US and UMA) trying to give similar contents, it is interesting to highlight the differential experiences coming from the teachers of both universities in relation to the teaching methodologies and academic results.Universidad de Málaga.     DAnTE: a taxonomy for the automation degree of software engineering tasks

    Software engineering researchers and practitioners have pursued manners to reduce the amount of time and effort required to develop code and increase productivity since the emergence of the discipline. Generative language models are just another step in this journey, but it will probably not be the last one. In this chapter, we propose DAnTE, a Degree of Automation Taxonomy for software Engineering, describing several levels of automation based on the idiosyncrasies of the field. Based on the taxonomy, we evaluated several tools used in the past and in the present for software engineering practices. Then, we give particular attention to AI-based tools, including generative language models, discussing how they are located within the proposed taxonomy, and reasoning about possible limitations they currently have. Based on this analysis, we discuss what novel tools could emerge in the middle and long term.Comment: 15 pages, 1 figur

    Effects of vacuum and modified atmosphere packaging on the quality and shelf-life of gray triggerfish (Balistes capriscus) fillets

    Seafood products are perceived as healthy foods. However, several species of seafood are still not fully utilized for different reasons or can be valued outside the original locale, if issues with the short shelf-life and/or the preparation/presentation form are overcome, e.g., gray triggerfish, Balistes capriscus. Consumed mostly fresh, its flesh is of excellent quality. We studied the effect of different types of packaging (in air (AIR), vacuum (VP), and modified atmosphere (MAP)) on physicochemical (color and texture, pH, and total volatile basic nitrogen), microbiological (total viable count, psychrotrophic, sulphide-reducing bacteria, and acid-lactic bacteria), and sensory qualities, and shelf-life of gray triggerfish fillets stored at refrigeration temperature for 15 days. The samples were analyzed on days 0 (fresh fish), 5, 10 (8 and 12 for sensory analysis), and 15 after filleting and packaging. During the trial, fillets became lighter (increased L*) and yellower (b* >> 0) with time of storage. Distinct patterns were observed for pH among treatments. Unexpectedly, the increasing trend observed in the texturometer-derived hardness of VP and MAP fillets, contrasted with the sensory assessment, wherein panelists perceived a clear softening of fillets. VP delayed and MAP inhibited the increase in TVB-N contents of fillets compared to fillets packed in AIR. Total viable count and psychrothropic bacteria of fillets in AIR exceeded the conventional limit of 7 log(CFU/g) on day 10, while in fillets packed in VP and MAP, their abundance remained below that limit during the trial. The organoleptic attributes of fillets perceived by a sensory panel changed significantly in all treatments during the storage trial. Willingness to consume the fillets decreased constantly in AIR and MAP, but not in VP fillets. Considering primarily sensory, but also biochemical and microbiological parameters, namely panelists’ rejection, total volatile basic nitrogen content, and total viable count and psychrotrophic bacteria abundance, the shelf-life of fillets packed in air was eight days. Vacuum and modified atmosphere packaging extended the shelf-life to 15 and 12 days, and thus can add value to this product.     Innovative concepts of Integrated Solar Combined Cycles (ISCC) using a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC)

    Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) is one of the most promising ways for electricity production of the upcoming years with high penetration of intermittent renewable energy sources such as wind and solar-photovoltaics. This is due to the fact that CSP when coupled to Thermal Energy Storage (TES) system enables large, inexpensive and flexible energy dispatch, which contributes to energy grid stabilization. At the same time, TES allows for steady operation of the power block by reducing undesirable fluctuations due to weather transient conditions and increasing the number of hours that the power block operates at design conditions 1. Despite the abovementioned advantages of CSP systems, a step further is needed for increase overall system efficiency and decrease CO2 emissions. Several studies have been performed considering high efficiency plant layouts such as combined cycle. For the latter, several works have been investigated about solar integration of combined cycle using parabolic trough and solar tower technologies. In both cases, solar energy was used for water/steam preheating and evaporation steps of the Rankine cycle in combination with the exhaust gases of fossil-fuel gas turbine engine. However, no research has been performed considering ISCC coupled with a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC). In this research, two innovative layouts of ISCC power plants will be analyzed. First considers a ISCC based on solar tower and second a ISCC with a parabolic trough collector field coupled to the Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG). The objective of this research is analyze the energy behavior of both layouts, selecting the best ISCC scheme to be coupled with a SOFC. The simulations will be performed using Thermoflex software. In both layouts, a SOFC is introduced before the combustion chamber at the topping cycle, and a Rankine cycle (bottoming cycle) with 2 pressures is considered.Universidad de Málaga.     The Stability-Concentration Relationship in the Brazilian Banking System

    In this article the relation between non-performing loans (NPL) of the Brazilian banking system and macroeconomic factors, systemic risk and banking concentration is empirically tested. While evaluating this relation, we use a dynamic specification with fixed effects, using a panel data approach. The empirical results indicate that the banking concentration has a statistically significant impact on NPL, suggesting that more concentrated banking systems may improve financial stability. These results are important for the design of banking regulation policies.

    A partir de la dinámica específica de la conformación multicultural indígena de la Universidad Autónoma Indígena de México, se está replanteando la deserción por el concepto de ausentismo intermitente, que se estudia a través de dimensiones sociales y culturales en los grupos étnicos yoreme y mestizos durante el periodo 2006-2007.     Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoitus oli toteuttaa mediakeskus yksityiseen talouteen. Työssä valittiin laitteista ja ohjelmistoista koostuva kokoonpano, joilla median käyttäminen kotona tehtiin monipuoliseksi ja miellyttäväksi. Työn tavoite oli saavuttaa monipuolinen ja helppokäyttöinen mediakeskus sekä oppia langattoman tekniikan tuomista mahdollisuuksista. Mediakeskus on erilaisista laitteista ja ohjelmistoista koostuva kokoonpano. Mediakeskuksen käyttötarkoitus on toistaa, jakaa ja varastoida musiikkia, videoita, valokuvia sekä tiedostoja. Työssäni kerron käytettävien laitteistojen ja ohjelmiston ominaisuudet sekä perustelen, miksi päädyin niihin. Käyttömukavuutta voitiin lisätä oheislaitteilla. Lopuksi selostan mediakeskuksen rakennusvaiheet askel askeleelta. Lopputuloksena syntyi toimiva mediakeskus. Mediakeskuksen tavoittena oli saavuttaa helppokäyttöinen ja toimiva kokonaisuus. Nämä tavoitteet saavutettiin osittain. Mediakeskuksen tekniikkaa ja toimivuutta voidaan sanoa onnistuneeksi. Työn tietoperustana olivat alan lehtiartikkelit, kirjat sekä omakohtainen kokemukseni viihdelaitteista. Sain myös kattavan opetuksen verkko- ja tietoliikennetekniikkaan koulun kursseilta. ----- The purpose of this thesis was to carry out a media center for a private household. The work included the selection of the hardware and software configuration with which the use of media at the home was made versatile and comfortable. The goal was to achieve a versatile and easy-to-use media center as well as learn about the opportunities presented by wireless technology. The media center is a configuration consisting of a variety of hardware and software. The purpose of the media center use is to repeat, share and store music, videos, photos, and files. This study discusses the hardware and software features, and explains why they were selected. User convenience could be added by peripherals. Finally, the media center construction is explained step by step. The end result is a functional media center. The media center`s aim was to achieve ease of use, as well as a functional entity. These objectives were partially met. Media center technology and functionality can be said to be successful. The theoretical background of the study is based on newspaper articles, books, and personal experience in the entertainment devices. Moreover, the school courses provided comprehensive education for networking and communications technology

    Curso de extensão em histórias e culturas indígenas

    O presente trabalho aborda sobre a terceira edição do curso de extensão em histórias e culturas indígenas direcionado aos agentes de movimentos e pastorais sociais, professores de Educação Básica, pedagogos, diretores de escola (municipal, estadual e federal), com a finalidade de formar multiplicadores na qualificação para a abordagem das temáticas das culturas e histórias dos Povos Indígenas, visando a contribuir para a implementação qualificada da Lei 11.645/2008 e na inserção da temática indígena nos contextos de atuação dos diferentes agentes. O curso foi concebido a partir de uma demanda apresentada pelo Conselho Indigenista Missionário – Cimi, que ofertou apoio logístico para o mesmo. Fizemos uma primeira edição em 2016, uma segunda edição em 2017 e em Julho de 2018 realizamos a terceira edição do curso no Centro de Formação Vicente Cañas, em Luziânia (GO). Nessa edição contamos com 30 participantes de diferentes profissões e de todas as regiões do Brasil

    Effective density-dependent pairing forces in the T=1 and T=0 channels

    Effective density-dependent pairing forces of zero range are adjusted on gap values in T = 0,1 channels calculated with the Paris force in symmetric nuclear matter. General discussions on the pairing force are presented. In conjunction with the effective k mass the nuclear pairing force seems to need very little renormalization in the T = 1 channel.
